The macaques in Nagano area are the only groups of monkeys in the world known to be enjoying natural hot water spring. They are known to be “snow monkey” from their strength to live in deep winter. Everyday, the staff in Jigokudani offers them food so that they can come to the natural hot spring, enjoy hot spring. Cute child monkeys, monkey families enjoying hot spring and sleeping by the side of the hot spring is really adorable.

  • ※ Please note that during winter, when there is snow, its common to see the snow monkeys enjoying hot spring, but during spring to autumn, when there is no snow, you may not be able to see them inside hot spring, but they may be playing or eating in water.
    ※ Since all the Monkeys at Jigokudani are wild animals, there is no guarantee of observation. In a year, there are few days where there are no monkeys at all.
    ※ If you are more than the mentioned group size, please inquire us for the tour cost.
    ※ This tour targets the observation and photography of wildlife. Please note that the tour is highly affected by the day's weather and we may need to change the travel route frequently. Our guide will explain and manage the program according to the situation.
