Only one forest where Asiatic lions inhabit
Once the Asiatic lions were almost exterminated. By the people’s endeavor the number of heads has recovered more than 400 at present. Visit the Gir Forest National Park is the only one forest where Asiatic Lions inhabit. Observe not only Asiatic Lions, the wild animals in Indian forest such as Chital (Spotted Deer), Sambar, Nilgai, etc. and many wild birds.
Additional safari as option could be arranged
This tour plan includes 2 times safaris by a jeep for exclusive use, but if you want to change the planned sightseeing in Junagarh to a safari, it could be possible. Conducting safari is required a permission each time, if you want to an additional safari to be arranged, please consult us as early as possible.

It is established in 1965 as a national park and located in south of Gujarat. The space is 1,412 square km. The 258 square km is under the full control as national park and the 1,158 square km is the sanctuary. The Gir Forest National Park is known the last Asiatic Lions inhabit. The academic term is Panthera leo percica. The lions appear on the works in relief in the eras of Mesopotamia civilization and the ancient Persia civilization. They widely inhabited in the south regions in Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and India. Today, they are the precious animal inhabit in the Gir Forest National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary. The forest in Gir was designated as sanctuary by the royal family in Junagarh in the beginning of 1900s. At that time, the number of Asiatic Lions dropped to 15 heads due to the excess trophy hunting. Later, the endeavors made by people for the forest department in the government and people for NGO resulted in the number of Asiatic Lions increased in the forest of deciduous trees in Gir. The research in 2010 showed the recovery to the number of heads 411 (male 200, female 180 and cubs 100). The Gir Forest National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary is the forest comprises dry teak and deciduous trees. In the east, the forest of Acacia and savanna spread out, in the forest 7 rivers flow and form 4 water reservoirs. There are about 300 places for watering animals, and the water keeps the wild animals alive in a hot weather. The climate and the quantity of precipitation between the east area and the west area in the national park are largely different. The annual quantity of precipitation in the east area is 650 mm where the forest of Acacia and savanna spread out, but in the west area exceeds 1000 mm.
