The admired wonders..!!!

White Tomb Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is built by the fifth Mogul emperor Shah Jahan in 1654. It is often called as “White Palace”, but it is not a palace but the “tomb (mausoleum)” for Shah Jahan’s beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The word “Mahal” means palace originally, but Mumtaz Mahal was called Taj Mahal which means “crown (coronet) of palace”, so this name was put. Later, Shah Jahan was confined by his son Aurangzeb in a room of Agra Fort, and spent the rest of his life remembering his late wife watching Taj Mahal through the windows.

The architecture of mausoleum in the Mughal era was in blossom in this period. Taj Mahal is popular in India, of course, and is the famous site ranked high among the World Heritage Sites. Indians who visit there take many pictures posing in front of Taj Mahal. If you are tired of touring, you could sit on the marvel stone of Taj Mahal and watch the opposite side of Yamuna River with the local people in a breeze. We do recommend this.

  • View Taj Mahal through the South Gate

  • The most popular site in India

Agra Fort, the symbol of the Mugal Emperor

From 1565 to 1573, the third Mogul (Mugal) Emperor Akbar built Agra Fort, and one century later the sixth Mogul (Mugal) Emperor Aurangzeb constructed the outer edge and moated the fort. Shah Jahan who built Taj Mahal made almost all interior of the fort excluding the Tomb of Jahangir. At present, the small room Shah Jahan was confined is not allowed to enter, but from the next room you could view Taj Mahal on the opposite bank (side) of Yamuna River and imagine Shah Jahan’s feeling at that time.
  • Agra Fort, the World Heritage Site
Fort walls are made of massive red sandstone

  • Interior of Agra Fort is made of white marble decorated precisely in the same manner of Taj Mahal.
