From the Airport of Deily, bound to Leh by the early morning flight. After arrival, meet a guide to go to the hotel.  In the morning, stay in the hotel to rest and to acclimatize yourself to the altitude. After lunch, tour in the city of Leh with the guide.  Visit the former Leh Royal Palace, Sankar Gompa (monastery) and Shanti Stupa.  (If you visit Leh the second time, the guide could show you other sites in the city you want to visit.)

In all day, visit the Nubra Valley with the guide.  (One way about 4 hours).  Head to the pass Khardung La (5,359m) to cross the Ladakh mountain range.  It is said the pass is an automobile road located in the highest in the world. Then, go down to the Nubra Valley to the center of Diskit.  Visit the oldest and the largest Gelukpa monastery in the Nubra, Diskit Gompa.  Also, as you want, you could enjoy a Camel safari on the sandbank zone.  (An additional charge is required.)

In all day, visit Pangong Tso crosses over the border (frontier) of China with the guide (one way about 5 hours).  Cross the Chang La (5,300m) through the desolate landscape of Tibet to head to the azure lake (tso).  Return to Leh, please enjoy Tibetan cuisine for dinner.

Salient Information

Notice on Altitude Sickness :

In Ladakh (Leh) in altitude 3,500m, some may have altitude sickness.  After arrival, breathe deeply, drink water and do not excess exercise, refrain from drinking, etc. please try to adjust your body with the altitude.  Also, at the passes in altitude higher than 5,000m on the way, please take care of yourself not to have altitude sickness, try to breathe deeply and do not run.

  • In case someone may have altitude sickness and the condition may become worse, consider the customer safety is the first, and consult with the guide, the tour day may be changed or shortened, or stopped.  Before depart from Japan, it is recommended to buy an insurance policy of overseas trip covering the costs on death and treatments from sickness, and aids expenses.  In details, could you please refer to the “altitude sickness measures” mentioned by Saiyu Travel Co., Ltd.

Experience the altitude in 5,359m! Automobile Road on the highest in the world! Khardung La (Pass)!

From Leh the center of Ladakh to north, head to Khardung La (5,359m) which is said “the world highest automobile road” (that may not be true).  From here, a splendid scenery spreads out of the celebrated mountain Stokkangr (6,153m).  Please be careful not to have altitude sickness.  After you arrive at the pass, do not run but breathe deeply.

Nubra Valley, the innermost place in Ladakh

Nubra means “green garden”. The pretty villages are scattered in the valley is along Shyok River. The center of the valley is Diskit has the oldest and the largest Diskit Gompa (monastery) stands on the precipice as if it watches the valley. Shyok River is a tributary (branch) of Indus River. Because the river is surrounded by the high mountains, air is dry that makes sandbanks on the Shyok riversides. The beautiful sceneries of mountain sandbanks spread out. In the past, Bactrian camels (double humped Bactrian camel) used to work for the Silk road trading from Ladakh to Baltistan in Pakistan. Today, the camels work for the tourists to ride on.

Pangong Tso in Azure (Dark Blue)

Pangong Tso is an inland lake in the Himalayas of which altitude is 4,350m. The lake (tso) is long and narrow that extends 134km and 60% of the lake belongs to Tibet in China. Cross the Chang La (pass) in altitude 5,300m and continue to run on the desolated ground is likely to be Tibet. Then, this blue lake appears suddenly.
